New school will be opened. |
We are happy to inform you that our new school will be opened at the end of June. Its address is 46 Mynbayev str. The new school is properly equipped with a spacious teacher’s room, a resource centre, which meet high CELTA Centre requirements. The school will be running a Teacher Training Centre and will be hosting high-quality seminars and trainings for teachers of our Centre, as well as for teachers of other schools, colleges and universities in Almaty. |

International House Certificate |
The teachers who would like to receive International House Certificate, an internationally recognized certificate for teaching English, may familiarize themselves with the information how to do IHC course online. This helpful training suits teachers who combine their daily teaching with the IHC course and benefit the most from applying the knowledge in class. The tasks and reports are completed on-line and sent off to training centre in New Castle while the practical part of the course, observed lessons, is done in Almaty under careful supervision of local tutors. TOEFL iBT Center at InterPress-IH |
We are happy to announce that InterPress-IH has been accredited as a TOEFL iBT Test Center. The test can be passed at one of our locations - at Mynbayev 46, Almaty. First TOEFL iBT test will take place on December 1st, 2007. For more information and to register please visit ETS (Educational Testing Service) web-site. First time in Almaty - Cambridge CELTA with InterPress-IH!!! |
Our first CELTA course will take place at the beginning of the year 2008. Planned course dates: January 21 – March 17, 2008.
The course will run part-time (planned timetable – 3 days a week * 4 hours (9:00-13:00). More detailed timetable will be available at a later stage.
Course fee including the Cambridge registration fee and deposit - US$ 2000.
The CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is the most widely recognized qualification for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) Teachers. 1. Get initial package for CELTA applicants (Course information, Application Form, Pre-interview tasks), available at the front desk at any of InterPress-IH schools, or by e-mail – contact us at tt-centre@ih-almaty.com and we’ll be happy to send the information to you). 2. Read the Course information, fill in an Application Form and complete the Pre-interview tasks; pass these to the front desk of InterPress-IH School at Mynbayeva, 46 or send by e-mail DOS@ih-almaty.com. 3. Afterwards we’ll arrange a selection interview for you at InterPress-IH Teacher Training Centre. Applicants will be interviewed by a CELTA Teacher Trainer, accredited by Cambridge ESOL. 4. Deposit is payable after acceptance for the course, immediately. We cannot reserve a place on the CELTA course until the deposit has been paid. Deposits cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

Our first IHCYL has started |
The International House Certificate in Teaching Young Learners
InterPress-IH is pleased to confirm the details for the 1st IHCYL course. The International House Certificate in Teaching Young Learners offers teachers instruction in methodology and practical application for teaching Young Learners classes. This course is appropriate for qualified teachers (CELTA, IHC or a pedagogical degree) who want to develop their understanding of lesson planning, dealing with classroom management, and designing tasks for Young Learners. Dates January 22nd – March 27th 2008.
Time commitment IHCYL Course Timetable: 10-week part time course
Total Course Hours: 50
30 hours of input 3 hours total of observed teaching practice by tutors* 3 hours lesson planning time & feedback lessons 4 hours observation of experienced teachers 9 hours observation of peers 1 hour of tutorials (2 30 minute session per candidate)
*4 X 30 min and 1 X 60 min.: twice with one of the two age groups and three times with the second group. (Candidates need to be observed teaching two different age groups)
All applicants who were not included in the first group (as the number of places is limited) will have another opportunity on the next InterPress-IH IHCYL course which is planned for the fall. |
